Many people forgo even stopping in Puerto Vallarta because it is so busy and urban and does not provide for much of an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Bay of Banderas has become increasingly popular among vacationers due to the beautiful shoreline and impressive mountains. In the smaller areas of the Bay of Banderas travelers can really get a lot of bang for their buck. The beaches are not over populated with sunbathers and there is a lot to do for entertainment as far as outdoor activities are concerned. The Bay of Banderas is a lot like how Puerto Vallarta used to be prior to the boom in development and industry. Puerto Vallarta is one of the most popular vacation spots among travelers so it is no wonder that Puerto Vallarta became so urban and metrop...    less

This monument was built in the early 1900's by the same people to build the London monument of Big Ben. The construction took many years because the builders kept running out of money to fund the project. It was completed in 1911 it had cost over 350,000 pesos. Back then this had to be paid for in gold. There are four other statues on the 3rd level f the plaza and they all represent liberty, independence, constitution and reform. The statues can be viewed as well as climbed from 9am-6pm and it will cost 25 pesos if you wish to climb them. You should then check out Archivo Historico y Museo de Mineria which is off of Matamoros. This museum is owned and operated by an old mining company. Here you will be able to view minerals, rocks, machinery and mining tools. The museum is open daily from 10am-2pm and 3pm-6pm. The cost to view this museum is 17 pesos and children and students are free to enter. You can find several m...    less

The Morelos Hotel is located on Batallon which is just a few blocks south of the main plaza. The Morelos courtyard has a very lovely courtyard with many beautiful flowers growing in its center. Inside the courtyard you can read many used books and there is also a community kitchen. The rooms here are clean and come with fans but they are not the most luxurious of accommodations here. The reception area is open and staffed 24 hours a day and the single person rooms go for 205 pesos a night with each additional person costing 60 pesos. They only accept cash here as payment. The Estancia Las Flores Hotel is located on Juarez and has quaint little rooms decorated with white wicker furniture, massive beds, and TV's in each room. The courtyard of the entrance is beautiful and has many green vines growing through it. The cost for a single room here is 250 pesos and that cost is for up to two people. The population in Zamora looms at around 158,000 people. The reason they call this the home of many illustrious men is because many great artists and poets have been so popular here and many have even won Nobel Peace Prizes for their work. Some of those poets are Martinez de Navarette, and Garcia Robles had a lot to do with nuclear disarmament. This city has more of the feeling a small town possesses. They are known in Zamora for their homegrown strawberries, and potatoes. They make some really delicious candies here too. You will not find a lot of attractions other than the massive Gothic church.
