  We are a retired couple with a limited income. We can only live in Mexico for 6 months so we prefer to rent accommodations.

  
  

  We are finding that although MANY houses and condos are not being rented (no takers) the prices are still very high and in my opinion "out to lunch".

  
  

  Where would you suggest we try for a place where it won't be so expensive. We are currently in San Carlos.

  
  

   We don't have to have a North American existance, just clean and pleasant.

  
  

  Any suggestions. Thanks

  Are you planning on staying in San Carlos? I was told that the state of Guerrero is very nice and not as expensive as the other places. I am not in Mexico, nor do I ever been but I am thinking of moving there and know people that lives around that area. From what i was told, it is a laid back area, if you don't mind that...Try finding some information on Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa

  We just moved to Xico, Veracruz. It is a very old, historic, but small (30,000 people) town, and we have found it very pleasant, safe, and quiet so far. We are paying $280 US for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house, with a gorgeous, fenced yard, at the end of a cul de sac. It is awesome! You might like Xico, which is only an 45 minute drive from Xalapa, which has nearly 1 million people, and all the Gringo-style conveniences. Xico is famous for its mole and its coffee. It has a waterfall, and some nice swimming holes in the river. Lots of people outside town have and ride horses.   come take a look at merida , yucatan you can find many homes in town or on the beach for less than 400 a month. for more info on merida try www.yucatanliving.com or www.yucatantoday.com

  We cannot compete with the 280 for a house in Manzanillo, but we have beautiful beaches and there are places available for 500 a month or so, but small and not on the beach.
